TSMC Q1 profit jumps 58% to record, beats expectations
TSMC, the world's largest contract chipmaker, posted a 58% jump in first-quarter net profit on Thursday, beating market forecasts and hitting a record, as it benefits from huge appetite globally for its artificial intelligence processors. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co, whose customers include Nvidia and Apple, saw January-March net profit rise to T$572.5 billion ($18.2 billion). The profit handily beat a T$543.3 billion LSEG SmartEstimate, which is weighted toward forecasts from analysts who are more consistently accurate.

TomTom's reorganization boosts operating profit in Q1
Dutch digital mapping specialist TomTom reported on Thursday higher than expected operating profit for the first-quarter of the year despite lower revenue following an internal reorganization. Its earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) came in at 13.8 million euros ($16.3 million), above analysts' average estimate of 7 million euros in a company-provided consensus and last year's level of 5.7 million euros. TomTom said the growth was driven by a higher margin and lower operating expenses after completing a reorganization last year.
